The tweed effect here comes from weaving two or more yarn colours together rather than printing a pattern on a single-colour ground, and that flecked surface is quietly practical. A mottled fabric does not show a light dusting of pale fur, a faint tea ring or a dulled patch where someone always sits, all of which are obvious on a flat solid colour. The sofa keeps looking the same between washes rather than only just after them.
The base fabric is chenille, whose short fibres are bound around a twisted core to make a dense pile with no long threads floating across the face. That is the specific reason it holds up to cats: a claw pressed into the surface meets resistance rather than a loop it can hook and unravel. The weave is close enough to keep grit, crumbs and fur on top where a vacuum brush can take them, and it resists the scuffs and stains that come from a sofa doing service as a bed, a dining table and a wrestling mat.
An anti-slip backing keeps it in position on smooth upholstery. Nine sizes run from a 27.6 inch square up to 43.3 by 70.9 inches, with a matching 17.7 inch cushion cover, so seats and pillows can be handled in the same fabric. Measure the cushion run first, then the depth. Removing the cover and running it through a machine wash is the entire maintenance routine.
