Read the two size lists before ordering, because they measure different things. The external figures are the footprint the bed takes on your sofa or floor, from 27.5 by 25.9 inches in small up to 46 by 37.7 inches in extra large, all 6.2 inches tall. The internal figures are the sleeping area inside the rim, from 19.6 by 17.7 inches up to 31.4 by 34.6 inches. A dog that stretches out needs the internal number checked, not the external one.
The raised square rim across the back is the part dogs respond to. It gives them something to lean against and a sense of enclosure while they sleep, which is why many dogs settle faster in a bed with a backrest than on an open flat blanket. The faux fur is thick, and that thickness is what stands between claws, fur and the furniture the bed is sitting on.
It is made from polypropylene fabric with polyester wadding and works through the year rather than only in cold months. The cover is removable and machine washable, which is the part that matters over time: a bed that gets used daily by an animal needs washing regularly, and one that comes apart for the machine actually gets it.
