The quilting on this cover is done by hand, and that shows up in use rather than in the photographs. Hand-stitched quilting lines run through the whole thickness of the panel and hold the wadding in fixed compartments, so the filling cannot drift toward one end and leave a thin, hard patch where a dog sleeps every night. The face is a polypropylene cotton in a soft garden-inspired palette, thickened enough to take claws without the surface breaking down. A thicker quilted panel absorbs the scuffing that thins a single-layer throw at the front edge of the seat, which is where most of the wear from a cat jumping up actually lands. The gentle colour scheme is there so the piece works as a furnishing in its own right, and the same construction makes it useful beyond the sofa: as a window seat cushion, a bedside pad or a small floor rug.
The underside is self-adhesive in the sense that it clings to the sofa surface rather than gluing to it, holding the cushions from shifting without leaving residue or marking the upholstery.
