Two details decide whether a sofa mat survives its first year: what happens to the backing in the wash, and what happens at the corners. This one uses a silicone rubber anti-slip backing and reinforced corner stitching, so the grip is still there and the corners are still square after repeated laundering, rather than the backing flaking away and the mat curling at the edges.
The face is cotton, which behaves well around animals. It is breathable rather than plasticky, so a pet lying on it for hours does not overheat, and a cotton weave takes the day-to-day scratching, shed hair, crumbs and water spots that otherwise go straight onto the couch. Keeping that traffic on a washable layer is what cuts down how often the upholstery itself has to be cleaned.
It works on both fabric and leather furniture and simply lays over the area you want protected, so it moves between a couch, a loveseat, a recliner and dining chairs, and doubles as a baby play mat, bedroom rug, floor pad or pet mat. Sizes include a 17.72 inch pillow cover, two squares and three seat-run lengths, so measure in inches first. Machine wash cold, dry cool and do not bleach.
