The sizes tell you how this is meant to sit. A one-seater panel is 22 inches wide by 85 inches long, which is a narrow strip run over the back, down the seat and over the front edge; the three-seater is 70 by 70 inches, a broad square for a full couch. In other words, length here is the sweep over the furniture and width is how much of the seating it spans, so measure over the back and down the front before choosing rather than measuring the floor footprint.
The face is a high-stretch fluffy plush over a waterproof layer, and the stretch matters as much as the water resistance. A fabric with give follows the contour of the cushions when it is pulled on, so it sits snug instead of ballooning into folds that a cat can burrow under and a dog can rumple into a pile. The plush is a non-shedding type, which keeps it from adding its own fibres to the shed fur already circulating, and the waterproof layer means a spill or an accident is a wipe rather than a stripped cushion.
A non-slip bottom keeps it anchored through jumping on and off. Day to day it can be smoothed back into place with one pass of a hand, and when it needs more than that the whole cover goes through a domestic machine wash and comes back to the same soft face.
